Who We Are

Camp Fire USA Heartland Council, a United Way agency, began in 1913 as the first regional Camp Fire council in the United States, Camp Fire USA challenges parents and youth to build character, adopt strong values, develop positive life skills and exercise responsibility to family and community. Council services include a wide variety of outdoor and group education programs: Camp Fire clubs, residential and day camps, outdoor education, training in volunteerism and community service, inner city after-school programs, and physical fitness/life skills education for children with special needs.

Our Mission

Camp Fire USA builds caring, confident youth and future leaders.

Our Vision

Camp Fire USA Heartland Council envisions communities that invest their best efforts in the future of their children. The Council’s resources are dedicated to supporting families and organizing children within our service area, both urban and rural. Family strengths and community assets form the Council’s foundation. The Council provides volunteer-driven, age-appropriate programs that enhance a sense of community, build skills in day-to-day living and instil those timeless values which ensure joyous, productive lives. Specializing in growth experiences for both adults and youth, we are preparing them to pass their salutary torch on to the next generation.
